Taiji Wushu Interaction 2023

It has been a fruitful year for all of us at JunWu Taiji with 11.11 marking our 12th and last performance of 2023.

From the early days at ChongPang CC with fewer than 10 students during the COVID to our recent 11.11 performance, we are humbled to see how our team have grown. In Nov 12, 2022, we witnessed the courage of two new students as they stepped onto the stage to perform together with the coaches, with their freshly learned routine and today, we witness 12 students who were once stage shy, stepping up to perform beginners taiji in full view of the seniors.

We are proud of the tremendous growth and improvements our students have made. Not just in the various forms they have learnt since 2022 but in courage and confidence! I remember students once commented that their form were less than presentable and would not want to be a disgrace on stage. What was once hesitation has transformed into active encouragement for new(er) students:

“its not about being good and perfect, only with practice, commitment, and stretches, we become the person we can be”

A comfortable stretch is a stretch, a stretchy stretch is a stretch. The difference between Good and Great is Courage to Stretch even if it means uncomfortably. We may not be as good as the seniors in the field, but! if we don’t have the courage to show up and stretch, we will never even be good at what we do.

For us at Junwu, it’s never about comparison with others or how good we are in our forms; it’s about having the courage to stretch and to step out of our comfort zone. Growth is never comfortable. With each practice and performance, we aim develop our forms and practice deeper and better than what we did yesterday.

“Set a goal so big that you can’t acheive until you become the person who can”

We are deeply encouraged and proud of what our members have became to date.

The essence of Taiji lies in its perpetual journey of growth. It’s not just a physical practice; it is a continuous exploration of our capabilities, both in body and mind. The art of taiji teaches us that improvement is a never-ending process, a path were each step brings new insights and challenges. As we continue this journey of growth in Taiji, we also cultivate our patience, perseverance, courage, humility and gentleness with ourselves. The beauty of taiji lies not in the routines and forms, but in the ongoing process of becoming a better version of ourselves with each step taken along our taiji path.

Watch our Beginners Yang Taichi 8 forms, Paired practice and Tai Chi staff in action during the 11.11 Taiji and Wushu Interaction Night 2023.
