Taichi Demo Night at Canberra CC

During the Taichi Demo at Canberra CC, we had the privilege of witnessing our beginners’ team take the stage in a self-led performance. They took the stage with self-assuredness, showcasing their work-in-progress skills to all the seniors and teachers who were present in the event. The team had spent at least 6 weekends together to sharpen their posture and to coordinate the performance routine. Among them were members who joined us between 2-4 months and who have yet officially learnt the Yang 24 Fist Routine.  The team’s remarkable courage, unwavering commitment to honing their craft deserve our heartfelt acknowledgment. We are immensely proud of their achievements and the dedication they’ve shown. It is truly heartwarming to witness their growth and passion for the art.

We also want to extend our heart felt appreciation to our coach, who, despite not feeling her best, graced the stage with a remarkable solo performance of the horsetail whip, epitomizing the true essence of perseverance and dedication.

Kudos to our head coach for supporting the event and the general event management, and our MCs for adding charm to the evening. The energy of JunWu team is truly inspiring. We really love the energy of our team just like the balance of Yin-Yang in Taiji, we found that we are all being able to strike a harmonious balance between dedicated training and having fun, focusing inwards on our needs and focusing outwards on supporting others. We believe that even without asking our head coach why she is so willing to support in the organization of event whenever she can and inspiring the team to do same, we know that we are all driven by our ethos –  天下武林是一家; we are a unified and interconnected community.

UBUNTU will be the word to describe our JunWu’s belief and experience in the recent demonstration events both in performing and supporting.

Ubuntu: I AM BECAUSE WE ARE

Ubuntu is a south African concept that emphasises the interconnectedness of all people and the idea that our individual well-being and humanity are intrinsically linked to the well-being and humanity of others,  Ubuntu encourages people to be mindful of their actions and how they impact the larger community, fostering a sense of unity, shared responsibility and mutual support. The concept of Ubuntu is pretty much like the concept of Taiji itself: 无极生太极: the two states of focusing on ourselves and focusing on supporting others – one is yin and the other yang. By itself, they are two state of pure and undifferentiated potential, which can sometimes be formless (无极). When it the two opposite states interacts harmoniously, the taiji emerge (太极); Ubuntu emerge. Taichi, as we practice it, is not just about personal growth, but also about building a supportive community. We are grateful to have such a dedicated and selfless team at JunWu. We hope that everyone can bring the same UBUNTU & Taiji spirit to the various areas of their lives to create uplifting communities around.
